How about having a driving "MOT"?
Has it been some time since you passed your Driving Test? Then why not try
our DriveCheck? DriveCheck is a short Driving Assessment aimed at everyone who
is interested in safer driving but who doesn't feel that they are (yet) ready
to take the IAM Advanced Driving Test.
Interested candidates are put in touch with a Group Senior Observer who will agree a mutually convenient time and place for the assessment to take place.
It takes about an hour comprising an initial introduction (documents check etc), followed by a 35-40 minutes drive, followed by a feedback session, at which the candidate will be presented with a written feedback form.
DriveCheck candidates then become an Associate of the IAM, for a period of 12 months and obtain many of the benefits of the IAM.
DriveCheck is not available for existing IAM Members, who instead may have a Members Driving or Riding Assessment. Anyone interested should contact IAM Head Office who will arrange one with an IAM Examiner. It is not a Pass or Fail.
The normal cost is £35, but as an introductory offer, the price is discounted to £25.
Having taken a DriveCheck, should the candidate be interested in preparing for the IAM Test with the Group, then should they apply within 30 days of taking DriveCheck, then the fee for DriveCheck is deducted from the "Skill for Life" programme fee.
A Reporter on a local Newspaper was given the opportunity to take a Drivecheck, the report is shown here
